I grew up in Center Moriches on the East End of Long Island, surrounded by farms that felt like a permanent part of the landscape. One of my earliest memories is walking with my dad along Old Neck Road to watch the tractors working the fields. A few years later, I watched those same fields become housing developments. The small egg farm my mom used to take me to in Moriches eventually disappeared as well.
Seeing farms slowly vanish across
the East End stayed with me.
Now as a parent, I’ve shared those memories with my 11-year-old son and shown him the places where farms once stood. When the idea for FarmScout came to me, he immediately wanted to help. Together we started building the early prototype and he came up with the name.
FarmScout was created to help people discover local farms, see what they offer, and support the farmers who continue to keep Long Island’s agricultural community alive.
Help people discover and support the farms that make Long Island special so the next generation
can grow up knowing them too.

FarmScout is starting on Long Island with plans to expand to other farming communities across the Northeast.
